Gianluigi Viscardi, Cosberg’s CEO, talks about "La Fabbrica Digitale"
Gianluigi Viscardi, Cosberg’s CEO, talks about the future of the Manufacturing Industry in the Special "I libri dell'Esperto risponde" – weekly publication combined to Il Sole 24 Ore - titled "La Fabbrica Digitale". This edition, dedicated to Industry 4.0, concerns different present topics, addressed to change the future scenarios, not only of the manufacturing sector, but also of the everyday life of anyone of us: 3d printers, custom productions, Internet of things, as well as talking households electrical appliances, even more “autonomous” cars, custom products, smart bags and much more. The interventions of various key personalities of the world of technologic innovation, robotics and university research, contributed to give an overview on what is happening and will happen in industries.
Viscardi, who intervened as President of the Technologic Cluster “Fabbrica Intelligente”, began in this way his speech: «The real issue is gambling again on the manufacturing sector. Advanced, modern, supportable as much as we want, but it is only by revitalising its industrial fabric that Italy can start again its growth of more than a decimal rate». Not only the competitiveness of the factories are at stake, but also the one of the entire national economic system. «We have got technologies» Viscardi added «and they are more and more economical and easy to use. Many companies are already working with big-data, sensor systems, Internet of things. Not to mention the numerically controlled machines, laser cutting machines or 3d printers: everyday things also in small enterprises. The problem is the industrial culture, which cannot be bought in any place. For example, the need to understand the importance of new skills, which are to be sought in everywhere. Woe to anyone who is happy with anything going well, when it can go better». So, we should re-engineer the entire productive process, by relying on the intelligence of objects, on connection systems, on ICT, on digital networks, on clouds. All of this aims at a greater efficiency in the management of the company and at the opportunity of having customised and “smart” products. And the Made in Italy, in this scenario, can only benefit from this. It is really important, though, that the digital manufacturing keeps on connecting itself to know how, to manual skills, to experiences passed on through the years, that is with our strong point, that must remain the same.
